With coveted locations in Hong Kong, Paris and Mykonos, Beefbar launched their latest destination in Malta in the summer of 2019. Situated at the edge of St. Paul’s Bay, this project promised to take Malta’s fine dining scene to a whole new level of understated luxury by the sea. Natural Stone Crazy Paving was the material selected for the beautiful pool area as well as the kitchen, providing a quintessential Mediterranean feel but with a modern and contemporary twist. Halmann Vella clad the new Farsons Brewery Corporate Office in Carrara marble, creating a contrasting continuity with the existing masonry exterior.

The Portomaso Laguna is a new luxury residential development facing the Portomaso Marina. Featuring a private laguna that will service only the residents, who will have direct internal access to it from their respective apartments. Halmann Vella installed ceramic cladding and raised flooring as well as the pool coping and sills.

Terrazzo and Porfido flooring were selected for landscaping at Housing estate in Mgarr. Both materials are very durable and ideal for exterior spaces, whilst visually adding texture to the space. They are ideal for ramps, garden passage ways, light vehicle roads, interior and exterior walls, public squares and sidewalks.

Halmann Vella was the main supplier of natural stone and assisted in the construction of the M&G Garden, one of the main gardens at the 2017 Chelsea Flower Show. The garden, which was designed by James Basson, director of Scape Design, was awarded a Gold Medal as well as the prestigious award for Best Show Garden and Best Construction. The garden was modelled on the Maltese landscape, particularly a disused Maltese quarry and utilised Maltese stone as well as a number of plants which are endemic to Malta. The outdoor area of Villa Mdina sees a predominant use of Maltese Hardstone which forms the backbone of this space. This stone takes cue from the past and the traditional, and is easily adaptable to a more modern, elegant and luxurious style. The neutral palette looks lovely against the surrounding greenery of the garden. Apart from the aesthetic value, Maltese hardstone was selected due to the fact that it’s a very durable material, and therefore ideal for high-traffic areas such as this entertaining space. It’s been a great honour for us to be a part of the renovation of Gozo’s majestic Cittadella in collaboration with Martin Xuereb & Associates. This project emphasizes the importance of honoring historical heritage through exceptional design and use of local resources. The use of Maltese Hardstone was a natural choice for this historical gem, providing for a defining feature for the project which blends in perfectly with the local landscape.

The Verdala Palace is the official summer residence of the President of Malta. It was built by Grandmaster Hugues Loubenx de Verdalle in 1586 on the site of a hunting lodge previously owned by Grandmaster Jean Parisot de Valette. The palace is known for its surrounding boschetto, which is a large semi-landscaped area that was used by the Knights of Malta for game hunting. The palace was embellished over the years by Grandmaster Giovanni Paolo Lascaris and Grandmaster Manoel de Vilhena. It is also surrounded by a stone quarried ditch.
