Infrustructure Malta re-built Għeriexem Road with a new belvedere overlooking the valley. Parts of the road where in danger of collapsing due to weak foundations and decades of subsidence. New belvedere with wide footpaths and benches, improving pedestrian access, with a cantilevered structure to minimise environment impact on the valley. Halmann Vella supplied and installed a mix of natural stone, mainly hardstone.
The calming aura of the Deep Nature Spa at the Phoenicia was brought about by utilising gold and brass accents across the spa and by mimicking the colours of the tranquil water in the green and blue glass mosaic tiles in the showering area. The calming whites, aesthetic blues and warm woods add to the definitive look of the spa. Central Bank’s Binja Laparelli, recently was awarded the Prix d’Honneur-Major Regeneration Project, by Din l-art Helwa. The judges felt that this new building has successfully achieved its scope within the brief, while at the same time respecting the context of the fortifications. Of particular note was the discreet rational approach, yet imaginative design, in the stone screen created on the Central Bank’s façade, and the integration of the design elements to complement the exterior walkway, and the historical structures.
