  1. Travertine: Travertine has long been a popular choice in outdoor flooring for its functional and aesthetic advantages. This year we’re seeing an even greater increase in demand for this material as clients are going for more luxurious pool decks. Travertine tiles add warmth and natural beauty whilst being very durable and heat resistant. They are also very practical as they are smooth yet not slippery, making them a safer option, and easier to maintain.
  2. Natural Stone: Whilst Travertine is the front running trending material in outdoor poolside flooring, the demand for other types of natural stone is not decreasing either. This is no surprise, as there is something very timeless about all natural stone. Popular natural stones include slate, which resists wear and tear and is slip-resistant. Slate usually comes in darker colours such as dark greys and browns. Granite and Hardstone are other water repellent options which are also very easy to maintain.
  3. Wood: Exotic woods are one of the latest materials to make a splash in the swimming pool design industry. Adding a zen atmosphere to a poolside setting, with rich colours and textures, wood creates the perfect space for sunbathing and relaxing.
  4. Tanning Ledges: Moving away from materials, a new swimming pool feature which is becoming really popular are tanning ledges. These are shallow areas (approximately 6-18 inches deep) in the pool which allow swimmers to stay in the pool without being completely immersed in water. These are very popular with families who have young children or pets, as it is a perfect place where they can play, whilst adults lounge and tan.
